This is the space that I will be working with. I spend a lot of time on my porch because I like to be outside, but in an apartment, there is not a yard that I can spend time in and think. I do a lot of my work outside there. Since moving in, I have been trying to keep plants alive. I enjoy watching the progress of the growth, but I keep getting too excited and over watering them. For this installation, I want to completely fill the space with a variety of plants to make my own jungle. I plan on getting some real plants, as well as fake, to fill the space. On the walls, I want to used fake garland that will be attached at the top of the ceiling. There will be rows of garland that I am going to attach to each other to create a plant wall. There will be eight fake trees placed throughout the space. It will be broke up with smaller plants of different sizes. The floor will be covered in fake moss. I would like to incorporate a water feature by the window. If I cannot get that to work, I want to record my fish tanks to play in the space. I know my cats will love exploring this space. They are indoor cats, so giving them an “outdoor” space to roam around and hide will be fun. I want to communicate that no matter our location, we can have a bit of nature in our lives. We are jammed in small apartments to live our lives, so why not create our own outdoor adventure, inside. I want to be able to find peace in the environment, to sit and get away from the world around. If we all spent more time outside, taking in the small details of growth, we can find peace of mind.
