I have created this work to show how little we notice in our own homes when it comes to lighting. This work stemmed from observing lighting fixtures in my home. I noticed the light and shadows that were created abound different lights. When I examined closer, I saw that the detail in the fixtures create different shapes on the surrounding ceiling. As a child, I loved looking at the different lights that they had on display at Home Depot. The stained glass pieces were my favorite because the colors were interesting. For this piece, I wanted to include different types of miniature lighting fixtures. The two I have included had the most interesting patterns to me. I wanted the lights to interact, and to see how different lights changed when they were in contact with others. I chose to use the white lights instead of the stained glass lights because I wanted to focus on the simple black and white shadows. The light from one fixture runs in to the others and it creates a sort of chain reaction. The light even throws shadows on the outer walls, encasing the entire space in light.
