Nature is all around us, but what can we learn from just taking a minute to sit down and enjoy it? Something that has been a part of my life is learning to slow down and relax. We are immersed in our busy lives and technology, but what good does that do for us? We all have memories of going outside to play in the yard and all of a sudden you are an explorer in the jungle looking for lost treasure. Many of these memories shaped my imagination and continue to help inspire my artwork. My aim of this piece is to make the viewer pause and enjoy time in a simulated scene from nature. By taking a moment to sit back and enjoy the lush space, we can be rejuvenated and connected to our natural world, while letting our imagination and ideas run wild. In this piece, I have used different types of greenery to fill the space. Each piece of greenery was chosen for its color, texture, and fullness. My goal was to completely fill the space to block out distractions and most man-made objects. Garland is hung on the walls to block the walls, while there are various other plants on the ground. The plants on the ground are held in floral foam in different variations. The viewer can sit or stand on the moss mat to take a moment to breath and clear their mind. There are two water features that are circulating to provide soothing water sounds, like sitting by a river. The piece is done in my apartment patio, where on the other side of the wall, is living space. I chose this because it is easily accessible and allows me to step in to another world in just a few movements.
