For my outdoor installation, I chose a location near water. I have always loved the water and it is somewhere I feel peace. My piece, that I have titled “Waterfront Property,” is a little makeshift shack. When I was little, I loved building houses out of whatever I had at the time. It could be Legos, grass, sticks, and when I got older it was in video games. I am also the envy of all the kids at the beach with my castles. I used the fallen sticks around the area to create the shack. The roots of the tree caught my eye and I was drawn to that location. The sticks are wedged in to the part of the tree so they are stable. A green leaf became the door for the shack. I used a cigarette butt for the chimney, and broken glass that I had found as a colorful patio. I liked using the natural materials with the trash that was around the area. It is sad to see things like broken glass, bottles, and other trash that has been left in the area. There is a lot of wildlife by the river, and I can only imagine the animals that are getting harmed from the plastics and broken glass around. I plan on going back later this week to see if it is still there.
