I have started to look in to different types of plants for my tropical forest installation. www.hgtv.com/outdoors/flowers-and-plants/houseplants/easy-indoor-tropical-plants-pictures I want the viewer to be immersed in the natural feel of the space. My hopes for this installation will be that the environment and sounds of the space transport you to a new location. To make you feel like you are not on a tiny apartment patio, but in a remote rain forest. Artists Mathilde Roussel Her work uses her work as a juxtaposition of the growth of plants and the growth of the body. Her hanging human figures that are covered in grass are captivating and make you want to touch what you see. Mylyn Nguyen She uses miniatures to depict human interactions with nature. http://www.mayspace.com.au/enlarge_works.php?workID=38742&artistID=91 Walter de Maria Places things not normally in a gallery setting in to a gallery setting. It forces people to look at their relationship with nature. http://www.theartstory.org/artist-de-maria-walter-artworks.htm#pnt_4 Olafur Eliasson He also uses gallery space to address our relationship with nature. His site specific work with ice bergs addresses climate change. |
